allergic reaction???

hi. i'm 2 weeks and 4 days out from the dual pacer implantation. (a lot of crap had to happen to get the medical attention i needed.) anyway... the other night i got a sharp stabbing pain in the pocket with the pacer. i wanted to rip it out of me (still do). i called the dr. and they said that it was nothing to worry about, but if the pain was still as bad i was to go to er in the am. so went and they said that i am probably having an allergic reaction to the metal of the device. they said that it's not supposed to happen with it being stainless steel and all, but they said that people w/ sensitive skin (like me) it can happen occassionally. has anyone had this or heard of this? they said to take benadryl and if it doesn't feel better soon, i'm to call my surgeon and they may take the device out and wrap it in something to not irritate the skin inside.
any help? im really new with this and im kind of nervous about what's normal and what's not.
thanks!
newbie k

I'm not a medical person so not sure what yours is, but I will tell you that I am now 3 months with a pm and I still get sharp stabbing pains at times and My site is still tender . I feel it more when I have been using it more, eg when I go swimming or move my arms around a lot. I know my site is not infected so I have just presumed that it is where the pm rubs under the skin, or nerves being rubbed on, and is just a part of the healimg process. Like I say I can't speak for you obviously.
I suppose I am less worried about pain and such round the site cos I have had operations for my Rh. Arthritis that have involved having metal implants and they always took a long time to heal fully! One in my left wrist took over a year b4 it felt anywhere near comfortable! Hope this helps Jan
