one is driving a car at that time, or holding a baby......is it bad enough to drop the baby or if driving, lose control of the car?
shock and awe

i believe there are levels of severity depending on the boost needed, but when you get the max, all i can say is 'ouch'
and you'll wish you had knee pads on just in case it does knock you down.
it's better not to dwell on the subject, just take the comforting thought that it will save your life.
welcome aboard
you will know~

I want to know the same thing, Brendakt54, about the questions that you asked. I am supposed to be getting one pretty soon. I already have a pacemaker which I truly love but I am very scared of the ICD.

I had a fractured lead and my icd went off twice(35 joules each shock). The first shock surprised me, but didn't knock me down. The second shock happened while I was jogging and knocked me on the ground. Overall the shocks hurt right went it happens, but before you realize what happened, the pain is gone and your like "wow".
BTW, if I got shocked 13 times in 1 minute I would be a jibbering idiot, props to you for having a sense of humor and posting on the board.
You know you're wired when...

Today I explained everything to my doctor, he set my lower rate back to 80 and I felt an immediate improvement.

I have said it before on here, it is about like touching the spark plug on a lawnmower. I was zapped twice by mine soon after getting it in 05. The first time I was triming a bush and thought the electric trimmer had did it, I laid the trimmer down and it happened again so knew then what it was. The second time I was really exerting myself and it got me . They changed some settings and some medications and I have not been zapped since the fall of 05. Both times I felt OK after it happened.
