Orthostatic Hypotension (OH)

Dual Pacemaker impanted about 9 months ago and have had bouts of orthostatic hypotension. My settings were adjusted from 50 bpm to 70 bpm and RR and its seems the OH has gotten worse. Today I measured my blood pressure after lying down and then standing up and it dropped from 120/66 (70 bpm) to 81/46 (80 bpm). Diagnostic for OH is only a drop in 20 mmHg

I wonder if anyone has any experience with OH. I found a case report that says that a male with OH was cured with a pacemaker and optim...

Long-term pacemaker - fatigue

Hi all - wondering if anyone can relate!

My partner is 31, he was born with third-degree congenital (complete) heart block and on his second PM (first one wasn't implanted until he was twelve despite being diagnosed as a baby).

Despite having the pacemaker he still experiences lots of fatigue and struggles to live a normal active life. He describes it as feeling like his energy battery never fully fills up, so he's always trying to make up the deficit. It was a l...

Pacemaker

Pacemaker on 1-30-2023 for low heart rate.

Experienced extreme sharp striking pain first night after placement. Dr prescribed pain medication and could not explain reason for pain. X-ray ekg showed no problems. Pain was lessened with pain medication.
Discharged next day. It has been 20 days since leaving hospital and I am still experiencing sharp tingling pains in my right breast. I cannot sleep on my side because of increase in pain.  I have been back to Cardiologist an...

Ectopic beats with DDDR Pacemaker

Hello

I'm on my second PM for complete heat block.

I had no trouble for 18-years but now the old symptoms of skipping one out of three beats are back.

I'm alright if I'm active but as soon as I relax the missing beats start. Lightheaded and BP low.

Scary in the middle of the night.

The irregularities started and I had a run of several days. It was picked up on radial wrist pulse, chest sensations, oximeter and BP monitor.

I contacted the cardiac...

Pulse

Third unit Nov 21 last year. Reason for the first, 21 years ago, was that my pulse went down to about 40 BPM. My opinion of why, is from taking med for BP and irregurar beats for years called verapamil.

Now, the pulse is aound 40-50. They won't replace the old leads because of my age and the danger of bleeding. One of the two leads is causing "noise" when testing. I've gotten no satisfying answers from the electrophysiologist or my cardiologist as to why the...

Odor

Reading previous comments, I have the same unusual Odor since the PM implant back in December 2022. A strange Odor seems to hang around a bit like topp dressing or bad feet? No one else could smell it but it seems  to be me only. I noticed in previous post I am not the only one. Has anyone worked out an answer??

Digoxin

Ive just started on Digoxin but am aware that the patient info is saying not to take with high fibre foods.  This leads me to wonder what exactly this means...should I leave it a few hours before I eat after taking or avoid fibre altogether which would be pretty hard to do.  And what does it class as high fibre??  Can I eat my porrige and cereal in the morning?!
I'm interested in what other peoples experience is with this drug re food, and also I have a low B...

After 3 weeks implanted the pacemaker,  when I lie down a couple hours, my heart has needle pain feeling... after I wake up, sit up, or walk around, the pain will go away. My day is very normal as before.  Is anyone experiencing  the same or similar problem?

When I felt the heavy pain, I went to ER, they helped me check everything, my pacemaker runs well, my blood is good, and I did the med cath, X-ray on chest, ...

Sleep issues

Received my pacemaker in Dec.2022 due to Vaso Vagal Syncope issues.  The pacer will prevent future personal injury and future events of passing out. I'm 4 weeks post implant today and have problems sleeping.  Initially my issues were getting comfortable after the implant. Now it's getting to sleep and staying asleep.  Anyone else have sleep issues ?

Specialist help

So excited, 5 months after getting a pacemaker change and having problems with exercise and pulsing under ribs, I'm going to have a session with someone from the company ( Biotronic) along with the hospital physiologist.
Not sure how common this is but I'm feeling very hopeful.
Has anyone had the same and was it successful. ?
Life feels on hold again and it's really getting me down.
Fingers X

Happy 2023

Replacement of CRT-D infection

I am happy to report I am home after a 2-week unplanned and very difficult stay in the hospital.

I had very complicated repositioning surgery and unexpected replacement surgery (due to device not functioning properly) of my CRT-D in mid December.  At my bandage and staple removal about 10 days later the wound was still open and actively bleeding upon bandage removal.  I was put on antibiotics, and after bleeding the following day, I was admitted through the...
