has anyone had these symptoms from an icd
hi
i'm new here and i am wondering if anyone else has ever had these symptoms after an icd placement..my husband had his placed back in oct, this oct will be a year, he has now been having arm/hand numbness and his finger tend to cramp up..we are wondering if this could be coming from the icd moving and pinching a nerve...thank you all and any info would be great..
atrial flutter and failing battery
I had a rate responsive pacer installed for bradycardia in 2002. In 2008 a Medtronic Concerto was implanted for crt reasons. At a recent checkup they found left atrial flutter which will require ablation. Most shocking (pun intended) was a radically depleted battery. The EP suggested an ablation and most likely a replacement of the pacer, this after less than a year. This model is capable of mild cardioversion if it senses arrythmia (flutter?). Has anyone had a similar problem?

ICD Alarms
Hi everybody,
I had my ICD (Medtronics Concerto) implanted in India in April 2008. After a few months, on returning to Dubai where I work, one morning I heard a sort of chiming sound. Though I looked around, I could not find the origin of the chime. The same repeated for a couple more days, every morning at the same time. On the third day whjile desperately looking for the source of the sound, I suddenly remembered my doctor telling me about the built-in alarm system in the ICD....

Hey everyone! I'm a new member and had an ICD since Oct. 2007. Yesterday I was at a local event to hear my friend's band play and he asked if I would hang out with him on stage. I stood near one of the biggest speakers (along with some small monitors). In about 15 minutes, I felt light-headed and then WHAM-O....I was shocked. This was my second time getting shocked since I had the ICD. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard about really loud music affecting heart rhythms or even being ar...

ICD Test
Hi
I had a debfiulator put in me 3 years ago I was a little dubious as to wether I needed on as I had no symptoms at the time. But my ejection errror was 14 and it has since gotten up to 50 and my heart went from being somewhat enlarged to normal a year ago. A couple of days ago I went and had my ICD checked and it showed the bottom on my heart was not working indepentely from the ICD this is a change from last Novemeber, I actually almost passed out when they were testing it. The techincan...
Amusement parks
Hello fellow pacers and icd'ers I was wondering if anybody has been able to go to amusement parks, rides etc, I went to coney island for my birthday 5/29 and was just bummed at the fact that I couldn't get on any rides... It's actually made me stress the fact of what really can I do? Yes I'm grateful for having this magic box, but often just can't help having some of the blues... Anybody have any similar feelings or experiences you'd like to share? God bless & thank you all!
I think somethings wrong
Good Morning,
I have a questions and hope someone can help. This only happens when I attempt to sleep and its only happened a few times. I am drifting off to sleep and then I cant move, I can hear everything going on but I can't move. Tonight and another time I think I heard my box as I call it (Defibrallator 1 lead) BUZZING. The only reason I knew it was the box this time was because I had a mild pain in the chest and when I was finally able to move I still heard and felt the buz...
placement
Hi<
I am brand new to this site! I have to have my ICD repositioned soon..... it is under my pectoral muscle and continually moves and puts pressure on the wires! And, it is painful. :( My doctor who is very well experienced wants to reloctate it under my breast with a possible breast impant over it beacause I am so tiny. I am 38 and am not having more children. Apparently it will be much more secure there. Has anyone ever heard of this??????? I would LOVE feedbacck!!!!!

I had an ICD implanted in October of 2008, had very little problems or pain, but now some 8 months the implanted area seems to be constant pain if lay on right side, its implanted on left side, and basicly a nagging pain most of the time, there is no swelling that i can tell, has anyone had this same problem, and if so any reasons for it, Thanks
Biventricular Pacing
So this past year I have been going to the cardiologist about every 6 months. He thinks I should have a biventricular pacemaker. I have been paced 100% of the time since I was two weeks old. I have heart block not complete though because I have an underlying beat of 42 bpm. But over the past 6 months my ejection fraction (EF) has been going down. A normal one should be between 55-70% and mine is currently at 44% and going down about 4% every 5-6 months. The reasoning for this is that because I...
Infection
Hi All.
Have a Medtronic icd implanted since Nov 07. Developed what I thought was -and still is- a bad cold or flu for past two weeks. Sunday 5/17 I awoke with pain and swelling around icd and thought it was from excessive coughing.Mon 5/18 awoke with redness around icd site and more swelling. Went to hospital and was told icd and leads were most likely infected and complete removal is generally the only treatement This am redness is reduced but still have swelling. I am hoping...
Subclavian Steal
I have been told by 2 Vascular Surgeons that I have an 80% Stynosis of the Left Internal Carotid Artery with Subclavian Steal Syndrome . Is there anyone else out there who has experienced this ? This condition could not be found by/through a CT scan and was picked up with an Ultrasound search . Seems it is behind my device ICD that is , and the lead may be making this situation worse due to it's location . What a conundrum !
Thanx for your input .
Love to all ,
Question
One of the members asked some questions about the shock of an ICD while holding a baby or driving, etc. I am going to ask again because I would like to know too. Can some of them be so powerful that the baby could be dropped or you could wreck the car or cause an accident? It IS something to think about, huh? Thanks for the input.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
