With the move to more remote monitoring with our devices, so the need for a reliable power supply.
Where I live, in a town not the countryside, I get a disproportionate number of power cuts. I had 8 in one day a few years ago.
Last night we had one and again this morning. It causes chaos.
I'm on the medical devices register of the power company and they phone if there is a new or imminent interruption. This morning's cut was probably finishing repairs.
The trou...

After implantation of my dual chamber pacemaker (approx 2 months ago) and a revision (3 weeks ago), both for failure of the V-lead..apparently neither time was it secured in the ventricular wall. I am to have another revision this week (I chose another institution!).
Currently iI appears that the V-lead has moved into my atrium, but has been turned off, and I am pacing only from the atrial lead. Before this I had long runs of atrial tachycardia and intermittent A-fib. That stopped...

My mother recently bought some bracelets made of hematite, there seems to be conflicting information online on if this is safe for her to wear
https://www.coopersofstortford.co.uk/stretch-hematite-bracelet/
It doesn't say it's "magnetic hematite", which seems to be a different word for another material altogether, this is just "normal" hematite it would seem, would anyone be able to give me a concrete answer on if this is fine for her pacemaker?

Can anyone shed any light on this? It's making me a bit panicky. My heart feels fine but I have a fluttering and sometimes a heartbeat at the top of my abdomen and my heart misses a beat. I don't feel very well whilst it's happening. It seems to be when I'm laying back with my feet up in my recliner chair.
I keep trying to tell myself that the PM will sort out any missed beats and of course it's being recorded so it can be brought up at my first PM clinic but I am wo...

HI - Turned 82 last month, had a dual pacemaker installed on the 17th of this month, and a 'tweak' yesterday.
Cardiologist has been having me wear a Holter Monitor annually, since 2021, when prior to a hip replacement it was observed that I had AFIB.
Previous years his response has been "Not yet".....this year it was "Now".
(For a little 'so what?' information: Almost 12 years ago to the day I was stair climbing and...

Hello, i have had a very low heart rate for years ranging from 36-45 resting daily. I am 55 years old and do intense cardio 2-3 times Week.. I have no problem with my heart during exercise but always feel sluggish and tired through day. I currently wear a loop recorder. I have to see my heart physician next week and was wondering if anybody else with comparable symptoms or any advice? I'm worried if I get that leadless pace maker compared to the wired pacemaker with intense...

I Have a old I phone 6 that monitors my pace maker. I was wanting to upgrade my old phone to a I phone 16? The doctors office put the app in my cellular phone. Will this transfer to the new phone or will it have to be put in again at the doctors office? Has anyone that uses a i phone to monitor and transfer data to doctors office ever changed cellular phones?

Does anyone know how rate response works on the Micra? Is it motion based like Medtronic's traditional pacers? I read that some of their newer ones are also using minute ventillation but haven't heard anything about the Micra and what it uses.
I was expecting to get Aveir, but now my eps have conferred and decided Micra is a better choice. More research for me! If you know me, you know I don't go into anything without learning as much as I can.
thanks Lurker(doc dx) for your concern as to my safety

Hi everyone!
I have a pacemaker since I was 13. Now I have my fifth pacemaker, it's a medtronic crt-d. I got a dyson airstrait as a present and there is a warning about pacemakers. Does anyone who used this product before? I'm afraid to try it because of my pacemaker’s shock feature :)))

Hello! is anyone a smoker?. I've had a pacemaker for two years and I smoke cigarettes. I talked to my cardiologist about the negative effects of smoking on pacemaker wearers and said that there are the same negative effects as for those who do not have a pacemaker , so it does not directly influence the functioning of the pacemaker. But i dont't know ..I would like to quit smoking to avoid complications but it's really hard ..

Has anyone here had radiation for prostate cancer ? It seems there are certain risks when you have a pacemaker. If someone has had radiation what was your experience with it ?

According to a recent article in Pulse Magazine, (a magazine for GPs in the UK), guidance has been issued by NHS England for repeat prescribing practices. E.g. medicines that are automatically re-prescribed for a given period of time. Some of your meds for long term conditions may be prescribed in this way, so you may see the effects of this guidance at some point if you are in the UK. It says,
‘’Published today, the NHS England-commiss...

My father went to see a EP for lead capping second opinion. His original doctor categorized him as pacemaker dependent. When we saw the second doctor, he categorized him not as pacemaker dependent because he turned off pacemaker for a couple of minutes, he saw the pulse are 40-50s, though he is 100% pacing because it is set at 60 pulse/min. I am confused.

Hi everyone,
I have started another Poll. Yawn. The purpose of this lighthearted Poll is to try to assess our level of general health. Never easy to define I know. The Poll is not intended to be specific to one health condition, say that of having a pacemaker or ICD. Instead, it aims to cover all our current health conditions, both chronic and acute, to see what impact these might be having on our well being and perhaps placing...

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
