Hi All,
Sincerly hope everyone on here is coping and doing well with their PM's. This group has been a life-line for me.
My issue that I wanted to ask you all about is if you have this happen to you.
I had my PM inserted in Oct 2010. Lots of issues with the surgery, blah blah.... (won't bore you with the details here)
But now I find when I am being paced, once the PM stops pacing I get these serious heart pains/cramping feeling and it is almost rhythmic. It...

Reading and responding to the message re looped lead led to a question of my own. My atrial lead was not secured to the wall of the ventrical. Cardio surgeon felt that there is more danger of damage to the heart wall. The lead was deliberately looped so that the point rests in the correct area. This did cause a problem as it moved and the voltage had to be increased for a period. At last check up it seemed it had moved back as voltage could be decreased again to .2.
Is this common practice...
Bipolar vs unipolar

Hi all,
My recent pacer implant called for some changes to be made to try and get more battery life so lead/current were changed from unipolar to bipolar. My first check showed episodes of v tach. My ep was afraid my heart did not like the configuration so he changed it back to unipolar. I am not feeling any better but think it may be related to rate response levels. I believe it is set to low.
My question is this, has anyone experienced this change and if so did they have any...

I asked the tech today how much of my battery life was left (I had my Medtronic pacemaker implanted 1 1/2 ago). She said that some EnRhythms had been going into some other mode (sort of failing unexpectedly early) and she couldn't tell me how much of my battery was left?!?! What is up with this?

Had my SprintFidelis pulled on Tuesday on the opening day of the new Johns Hopkins Hospital. Been waiting for this for a long time, but he wouldn't do it until the ICD hit EOL. The procedure took place in the new EPCath room which is a hybrid room (doubles as the OR, just in case.) BTW, pre-EOL I had an MRI done with this ICD (JHU does about 4-6 of them safely each day, I was informed.) After removal of the battery and leads, had a 3D mapping MRI done right after to confirm a diagnosis. Prett...

Anyone experiencing this? Was told that I had bad ventrical lead last December. Still have had nothing done about it (not pacer dependent). Tried to do unipolar vs bipolar but didn’t work and was put back like it was originally. Am told that they are pacing ONLY the ATRIUM (since January).
Lately I feel awful! Just plain tired and run down with basically no energy at all. Settings are at 60bpm (low) and 130 bpm (high). HR seems to want to stay from 60bpm to 70...

Hi there,
I am 18 and a Senior in High School. I had my PM implanted on March 28, 2012; so approximately 5 weeks ago. My pacemaker guy told me to wait 3-4 weeks before I move my arm above shoulder level (90 degrees) but my electrophysiologist, who did the surgery, told me to wait 6 weeks before I moved it.
I am in my show choir and my last choir concert is tomorrow. Earlier this week I started dancing again even though it hasn’t been 6...

Good morning all. Back to the cardio yet again yesterday. The medtronic Rep has finally compiled all of his research and it turns out that my lead needs to be replaced. I have less than 2 years of battery life left on my current Pacer, so his recommendation is to extract the old leads and then just replace the whole works all at once.
Waiting to hear from the surgeon for my consult now.
Should hopefully be all fixed up in a matter of a week it two now.
Thank you for all of your in...

You guys are probably going to get really tired of hearing from me. I consider myself incredibly lucky that I have gone almost 25 years with no issues caused by my PM, but now that there are issues I am constantly looking for advice.
Just found out that one of my leads is a St. Jude lead. I did some research, which I should not have done I guess, and found out that there have been recalls on some of their models. I have no idea what model mine is, as I just found out recently that it is...

Good evening all. I posted a message the other day about having issues with one of my leads (switching polarities and fluctuating impedances). Still no answers there, but now I have another concern.
When I had my first surgery back in '86 they did the implant right under the surface of the skin. The whole works was trying to come through my skin, though, so they buried everything under the muscle.
Today I discovered that I can feel one of my leads. I have a bit of discomfort, but I ca...

I am 100% pacer dependant and have a dual chamber device. I went in for my routine check-up the other day and the tech told me that one of my leads had changed polarity from bipolar to unipolar and that my impedances were fluctuating.
He said he had no idea why this was happening and was going to check with tech support to see if he could get some answers. I have not heard anything yet, and I am more than a bit concerned.
Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas or suggestions as...

Hi everybody!
I think this is the fist time I post a message. I've read many, but never posted one. I think I need to rise up to the occacion since I'll have my pacemaker and my upper atrial lead replaced next Monday. I must say I'm scared and stressed. In the past few weeks I felt terribly tired and suddently my pacemaker alarm started going off practically everyday. I saw two Meditronic guys on three different times until the last one told me there was something wrong with my lead. I wil...

On January 5th, 2012 I had a Medtronic Revo MRI Pacemaker implanted. It was my first pacemaker as I had a 2/1 heart block but fortunately no coronary artery disease. The surgeon told my wife he had difficulty inserting the lower lead into the heart. Since its installation it has been operating at 100% of the time in the lower chamber and 15% of the time in the upper chamber but upon exertion I still experience shortness of breath. The big problem is that it is set at the maximum setting a...

Hi all.
Great to read all your comments. I don't have a pacemaker myself but my mum does. She had hers fitted in sept 1984 and still has the same one. She was 39 when it was fitted. I often wonder whether she holds the record for the longest lasting p/m, does any body know?
Regards
Rachel
