I have a pacemeaker and atrial fibulation. My cardiologist and I decided not to treat the afib as it was mild, had no impact on my daily living (hiker and backpacker)....but the Medtronic I have automatically (I am told) goes into rate response when it senses afib. Anyone out there who can confirm this? Ron

My PM doesn't keep its sleep mode. It's been set by my doctor twice, the nurses twice and this last week by a tech from Medtronic, but he made it worse. Now it's in an out of sleep mode, 50bpm, as if it were taking a nap. I've been asked if I'm near a magnet, which I'm not. It's tough to sleep with a PM that is changing all the time.
Has anyone here had a similar experience? I would appreciate hearing from you. Right now I feel like an odd man out vis-a-vis my PM. Maybe your ex...

Hello friends, just wondering if anyone has worn an event monitor? I went in for my check up and came home with an event monitor. I have to wear it for 30 days. I have worn heart monitors before but not this type. Dr discussed stronger meds or possibly an ablation. I have had 4 already.

First - to the moderator - is there a way to get rid of that anoying grey stripe down the middle of the page?
Now- Had my PM checkup a few days ago - it recorded 7500 events in the loast 6 months, none over a minute long! I feel some, but not all - mostly at night. Doc says that if I can tolerate that he will not change anything. They did turn on the motion detector that kicks the rate to 80 if I move much. So far I see no real effect.
A year ago I had an AV node ablation, so my HR do...

PM inserted Aug 2010. For past 2 months have experienced periodic breathless--with minor/no exertion. Am also experiencing tiredness. Cardiologist thinks that pm "ramping" settings may need to be adjusted. What are ramping settings? Any other thoughts to share with Medtronic rep during visit next month?
Thanks.

Hello to all, My pacemaker, which I’ve had for about a year, has a sleep rate, as I guess most others have, and it is set at 50bpm, from 3AM to 11AM. Strange hours, but not for me because I do my best reading and film watching till about 2 or 3 in the morning. Of course you know I’m old and retired, but I try to stay young at heart. But my pacemaker is not helping: it will not keep the settings for sleep time and keeps changing on its own. I had it adjusted at least five times in the...

Anyone else have a check-up with the computer at Cardio office and hear " You had 2 "episodes" and they were able to tell me exact date & time. Technician told me not to be concerned. Should I? I did not see the Doc that day.

Hi all,
I'm about ten weeks out from aortic valve replacement where I got the Medtronics Enrhythm pacer thrown in as a little Christmas surprise due to heart block. Anyway, at about 6 weeks my cardiologist gave me the all clear to start rehab and even start running when I felt up to it. I knew nothing about the pacer at that time and asked if this was all seamless as I started running my increased heartrate would just follow. He says no problem. After a little research on my own,...

I got to my appointment way early as usual, with the bus system here there are only 2 ways to get places way early or a bit late. I am OCD on punctuality so I end up places way early. My appointments were 2:30pm for my interrgation and 3:00 to see the PA. Everything went great this new doctors office explains everything. I am so glad the last one turned out to be out of network so I couldn't afford them. I feel fantastic the PA went to tell my EP the resutlts and he came out to tell me he...

Ok...so what's up? I walked in the hospital 2 months ago with Cardio Block 3. Two days later I had a pacemaker. I went in for a check up this week and now I seems to have went from a slow heart rate to a fast heart rate. Not all the time. I had 4 "episodes" last month. My dates of when it happened were verified with the PM history.
Now my doctor has me on Atenolol 25 MG split in half. A half in the morning and a half in the evening. My problem is it makes me feel funky. I've...

Thank you Smitty for sharing your print out - I have not got mine yet
but at least now I know what it looks like - I did my remote transmission yesterday so they will mail my print out to me.
I do have one question about the print out does it look the same as the one that you do when your in the Dr's office? and I see posts in here about a "EF" number ? is that on the print out and what is it exactly?
Thank you :)
Blessings

I have Medtronic single lead PM in VVIR mode implanted 3 years ago. Interrogation was done on 10,Feb. The report says ECG-AF with ventricular paced rhythm and occasional QRS and VS-27.7%, VP-72.3%. Please can one of our knowlegeble members tell me the significance of this. I am informed earlier PM senses all time and it gives impulses when required. My PM is ADAPTA ADRS-01. Does it now sense 27.7% only and out of that it paces 72.3%?

Hello to all :)
Haven’t posted for awhile - but come in all the time to read messages and keep up :)
I have a question - I am going to be doing my 4 month remote device check tomorrow morning - I noticed on my antenna that there is no "magnet" icon - does this mean there is no "magnet" and if so, how does this transmit? I thought that is what the antenna was/is a magnet? can someone explain to me like Frank or Smitty or anyone:) ...

Does anybody know if you can transmit your PM data through a VOIP phone? I no longer have a LAND line (cells only) and all of the telephones at work are VOIP. My work phone requires you to dial area code + 1 + number even on local calls. Think that extra 1 may be the deal breaker. Please advise if you know for sure........and thanks.

My mom is mid 70’s and up until now very active physically until she passed out raking leaves in October. A holter monitor showed that her heart would stop beating for numerous seconds, so they put in the pacemaker. She just had her first followup with the pacemaker rep after pacemaker surgery. She has been experiencing rapid heartbeats when doing anything physical. They made a few adjustments and she came home and felt good the next two days. Now she is feeling very tired, with a he...

I just received a pacemaker on Dec 2, 2010. I just went to my follow up appt and they downloaded info from it. Everything was fine at this visit. I just came home today with a call from the cardiologist telling me they were sending me a 7 day holter monitor and a call from the monitor company telling me they shipped it today. The company wouldn’t give me any info and told me to just call my cardiologist. Before I freak out, is this typical to have to wear a holter 2...

Hello everyone:
I just wanted to say thanks for this site and the messages of support from my last two posts. I said I'd let you know how my second interrogation went with my pacemaker. It went better than the first one and not as upsetting. I remember telling you that I felt a flip flop feeling in the heart and a blurring of my vision with the first interrogation and told the technician to stop.
I mentioned this feeling at this second visit and the technician said that a note w...

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
