Low battery

Hello it's been awhile since I posted anything.

I have a Medtronic pacemaker, I've had it since Nov 2010.

I received a call indicating that my battery is running low and I have to check it monthly. I'm 100% paced and never had my pacemaker change yet

i know two people who have StJude pacemakers and they say that their pacemaker will vibrate when their battery gets low. Also they have their pacemaker being  monitored 24/7 via Wi-Fi.&nbs...

What I wish my discharge Instructions said

Sorry for the length of this BUT....

I’m a nurse - but not cardiac- so my understanding of a pacemaker was it was placed and fixed the heart rate issue.  SO INACCURATE!  So in the two weeks since placement, a second subsequent surgery for both leads placement to be revised, an additional ER visit and two office visits this is what I have learned.  For a small group of people, typically healthier/active individuals the PM is a process of adjusting th...

Pacemaker - left or right side ? what's the difference.

Hi All,

I had my pacemaker inserted 30 January 19.  Quite a few friends have queried why I have it on the right side and not the left.

I'll have my follow up visit in May, quite a way off yet, curious if most of you have your's on the left side? Does anyone know what the difference is?

My Implant Surgery 3-15-19

after surgury

2 weeks ago (3-1-19) I had a pace maker/ defib installed. A week later I woke up with a baseball in my chest, hemotoma. Yesterday (3-15-19) I went in and had it, hemotoma, removed. This morning I wake up and the drainage is a lot compaired to none after the first procedure. Is that normal?

Convergent Procedure

Can you have a convergent procedure if you have already had:

1.  Cryo-ablation

2.  AV-ablation

3.  Pacemaker implant (2 lead)

Still have severe A-fib with heavy pounding of heart and breathlessness. Sometimes leaving me gasping for air.

Pacemaker implantation

I found out yesterday that my arrythmia and Bradycardia requires me to get a pacemaker, surgery in the planning stage. Felt like I wanted to join a group so I can ask questions when they arise because I never thought I would have heart disease. I thought my lightheadedness and feeling like I was going to pass out was due to hypoglycemia. If I had not bought the apple watch that I did for fitness, I would have likely not known I had an issue until something serious happened. So glad to be here...

I’m going to have a pacemaker installed tomorrow and am nervous about the whole thing. Any thoughts from someone who has recently had it done?

Initial Recovery

Good morning,

I unexpectedly was in complete heart block on Sunday and received my pacemaker on Monday at age 49.

Just curious, how long does it take to feel better - both recovered from the surgical site and for your heart to find its new normal?  Meaning, I formally had a resting heart rate in the 50’s. My pacemaker is set for 60, but I’m fluctuating more than usual between 60 and 80ish.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance!

Shana

It will get better

My sympathies for your current pain. I got a pacemaker about 9 months ago.

i had similar pain that you are experiencing. For me, it got better in a week, and significantly better in 3 weeks. I felt well enough to go back to ( driving myself)

your time frame may be different than mine. The main thing is to remember getting a pacemaker these days is very common place.  You should heal up nicely in a few weeks. If pain persists, call your doctor, he may be able to

After PM brain function

I had a PM installed in January 2019.

Since then my cognitive abilities have become suddenly impaired, I find myself feeling not safe driving, and my mental health issues have declined into a serious depression. I am at a loss as what to do.

My doctor is sending me to a psychiatrist and put into his report that I need to be reassured. How unreassuring! I am truly frightened.

Anyone with any experience with this? Suggestions?

CRT-P

1 week since my CRT-P install. Had my dual lead pacemaker replaced as EP feels it's causing pacemaker induced cardiomyopathy (low 40's EF with some dilation of both ventricles). I was RV pacing about 90% of the time with the dual lead PM. My QRS under RV pacing was real wide above 150 ms ie: ventricle dyssyncrony. The good news so far is that I don't have any symptoms from the cardiomyopathy except for maybe a little abdomen water weight and I still have good exercise tolerance so...

New Pacemaker Placement

Well here we are again, tomorrow I go in for  third pacemaker since 2013. My battery is officially EOL & we are moving the new one subpectorally. Being left handed, my current one came out of pocket 4 years ago & it’s almost completely poking through my skin. Has anyone had theirs moved from under skin to subpectoral? How was the recovery? This is the last pacemaker I will most likely get before I officially get added to the transplant list. Needless to say I am anxious abo...

Anemia 1 week after pacemaker put in.

I am a healthy woman who had pacemaker put in a week ago.  Had some discomfort and a low grade fever for a few days but very manageable.  Blood tests yesterday show anemia.  Is this common? Should I be concerned? Waiting to see what doctor says but wanted to ask in this forum.

Mitral valve repair

Hi All I am new to this site as just came across it & looking for reassurance. I had open heart surgery in Dec 2016 as my mitral valve was leaking & repaired. In Mar 2018 I had a PM fitted &now been told following an echocardiogram that my mitral valve may need another surgery to stop it leaking again.  Can I ask if anybody has undergone open heart surgery twice as I am very concerned as I suspect it would be much more difficult to reopen me up the second time around. I would...

back pain

Just had biventricular implant. Zero pain until  middle of night on day four. Terrific back pain when I breath. Went to MD next morning. All tests fine including repeat x ray. He suggested nsaids/tylenol. Today a little better but when I bent over had some chest wall pain. I assume that the chest pain is from implant pulling. Ther back pain could be anything including spasms or tension.

Itching like crazy

I'm 22 years old and I had my first pacemaker implanted on december 18, I've had no complications from the surgery. Once the scar had formed I started using Mederma products on it. Mederma advanced during the day and Mederma PM at night. I should also mention I had a loop recorder implanted before and it was removed during the pm surgery so I've got the one scar between my collar bone, breast and shoulder for the pm and one between my sternum and my breast from...

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
