Hello there,
I am desperately seeking advice on some kind of protection for when I play football.
I've checked online and it seems to have come down to two products.
1) Evoshield Shooting Shirt priced at 89.99 euros.
or
2) The USA Paceguard priced at $125
Which one would be best? I've also checked out Rugby Protection but that seems to be just foamy style padding.
Can I play again? I usually play two 90min matches per week and I pl...

hi, I have junctional brai cardia and the doctors have advised I have a pacemaker fitted as by hr 35-45 is. I work out regularily, combination of yoga, cardio and swiiming. The Doctor said I was borderline and that it woudl be better to have a pacemaker. I told him that I woudl aggree only if I can contunie to do the same level of intense workouts. ~He said that would not be a problem so long as I did want to build my chest musckles as the leads could fray. I have been put on a waiting list and...

I must surely be possessed by some entity, but I am interested in running in the First-Ever Central Virginia Congenital Heart Walk! There is a run component which is 3 miles, and the walk is 1.2 miles. I do not think a 5K is realistic for me, but I wonder if they will make an exception for the heart kids so I can run the walk? :P Anyway, the event is on November 19th, and I am in need of advice, especially concerning training!!! Thank you!!

Wow! Just found this forum, and it's really awesome. I had a dual chamber PC put in on Aug. 5. My heart rate was slowing down more more after two years when I first started looking into my heart problems. I am a runner, running half marathons. When can I start running again! I have done some walks with my arm held to my body. Do you think it is okay to start back with easy running. Is it okay to be walking. I walk 3-4kms right now.? Any advice is helpful, as it's very painful not to be running.

Hi all,
I've had a bi-ventricular pacemaker for almost a year now (due to LBBB and slight arrhythmia) and I'm looking for some advice on exercise. Should I be pushing myself to do more exercise (which is what I'd like to do) or should I be respecting my condition and taking it easy. I'm 57 years old and would like to try and keep up with the grandchildren (if possible). My cardio when questioned on the subject just said exercise responsibly. I would greatly welcome any advice. Thank...

HI, new poster here, have had my PM since September 2010 and went through absolute hell with it. From the emergency surgery to have it inserted, ( I have left bundle branch block- moderate to severe) to the fact the surgeon cut a vein in my chest and i had a full on collapsed lung and then emergency chest tube and subsequent blood clots. It's been hell. I have felt incredibly depressed post op and gained about 25lbs- (partially from the change in birth control- you cannot use normal birth contr...

My elderly friend has a pacemaker fitted and is looking for a suitable exercise bike. She is worried about models which have batteries included. Could anyone recommend a suitable (basic) one?
thanks

Does anyone know if there is danger in using electric hedge trimmers to trim my bushes? I have a lot of bushes to trim and don't know if I should do it or not. I am a little more cautious now that I have already broken and had one wire replaced...I guess that seems to happen more with us younger folks :) I'm 36 and I'm on my 2nd pacemaker. Thanks!

I was 3-mos. pregnant with my son (1985), & decided to NOT follow through on my sky diving class/jump; however, my son's Father did. Since then ... I ALWAYS wanted to 'jump'!
My son jumped with his Dad before he went off to college -- WHAT AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE & VIDEO! I STILL wanted to 'jump', & told my son we'd go together for his graduation from college! However ... in 2006, I got my pacemaker!! Never 'sick', never dizzy, in basically good shape for my age, yet my Cardiologist...

Hi i am 29 yrs old and not until March 23 of last year did i have a pacer put in. I ran High School and College Track & Cross Country. On March 23 of 2010 i was running in a treadmill at a local Bally's and i fainted and hit myself in the head and was taken to a hospital where they told me i need a pacer since my heart beat was less than 20 beats per min. I had an external pacer at first then i got the surgery. I have gained about 18-20 pounds since then. I am 5' 9 and i weight 182. I have been...

No matter what I (or Garmin Customer Support) try, I can't get current Garmin HRM's (such as the Edge 305 bike computer) to display my heart rate. I have a Medtronic pacing PM.
In my experience, Polar HRM's do a good job of displaying heart rate but at download time, Garmin's PC software is the best (my opinion).
Has anyone solved this problem?

I was a very competitive runner and triathlete for about 30 years. Then my heart rate began to drop in half when I exercised. 3 heart caths later they couldn't fix the electrical problem so we decided to put in a pacemaker. Now I can't run for more than 2-3 minutes without being out of breathe. I don't think I'm getting enough umphh from my heart (aka pacemaker)to pump blood to my lungs for oxygen. My angiogram was negative for blockage. Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution...

6 weeks post PM implant.Lifted first time yesterday (chest) and did back today. Baby steps....I am in no hurry or have nothing to prove to anyone BUT I will be back where I was strength wise pre-PM in 5 months (I am guessing). The light weight feel heavy but they feel good. I have done cardio since day after PM implant so I never lost any cardiovascular conditioning. Not doing much with my left arm (had PM pout in left pec) has resulted in some atrophy. It will return soon enough.

I am 69. Had implanted 1 1/2 years ago a two chamber pacemaker SJM Accent DR after being diagnosed with Sinus node syndrom. Pulse at rest was 40, under exercise could barely go over 80 per min. Pacemaker now set at 60 minimum/ 130 maximum, with a sensor reacting to movement of the upper chest. When i exercise, puls does not increase on bike, goes to 100 when I walk, 120-130 on nordic walker, 130 on rowing machine (the latter makes me dizzy).
I hardly work up a sweat and do not get out of...

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
