A textile lined with silver fiber has been developed for protection against electromagnetic waves. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the EMI protection effects in cardiac pacemaker patients wearing this textile. Participants in this study had pacemakers that were capable of obtaining endocardial electrograms, markers/annotations, and surface electrocardiograms via a programmer. A cellular phone was placed over the pulse generator. The presence of EMI was confirmed when a change in a para...

Thanks for your reply s, there is some flapping going on over something called an inverter on the boat, seems i will probably not be able to take the boat holiday after all. Given them a week to find out then I must try and get my money back if no go! This trouble is because I have become pacemaker dependent! I am glad to have found this club.

I'm scheduled to get a PM soon. Does anyone know if electric guitars, instruments, and PA systems cause any problems with PM's? I've been playing in a rock & roll band for 30 years an fear I'll have to give it up. Thanks Bon

Good morning everyone :)
I went to the dentist yesterday and I disclosed my PM in my pre visit history sheet. The hygenist asked if my PM was shielded because they use this water jet thingy that has electro-magnetic field and they use it to break up the plaque etc on your teeth. I have no clue if my PM is shielded, I looked on line but Medtronic site is shitty for us PM users... anyhow, I have a Medtronic Senia SR Model SESR01 with 407458 leads. If anyone of you awesome forum readers...

I would like to point out to the person who replied that the electromagnetic field at the Hoover Dam would not interfere with your pacemaker that I believe that each individual is different and so are their pacemakers. I was told to be careful to avoid any strong electromagnetic fields and I have been very sensitive to the changes my pacemaker makes since my first implantation.
I was in Idaho and stopped to take some photographs. I have had 3 pacemakers now. I was aware of the diff...

Hey everyone, Have been reading lately that scientists are predicting a possible crippling solar flare this year(2012).from what I am gathering a solar flare of a large magnitude will send an Electronic magnetic field(EMF)capable of frying all electronics on the planet, including pacemakers. Anyone have any reliable information on this. It seems to be very troubling to me. I know If I ask biotronik they will likely downplay the whole thing. Thanks John G.

Hi, I'm a new member! It's great to see a community of pacers where I can ask everything about my pace without calling or waiting for my doctor (for some case, for others you better call your doctor). Anyway, my question is I have just bought a PS3 device and I was reading the safety paper and it was speaking about the bluetooth and LAN wireless connection. Will it really affect my pace? I know it can from a certain distance, but... And as for a wireless controller command (manette in french, y...

Hello,
Does anyone one knows if we can get into a jacuzzi with no problems? Also, if I can use the hair dryer and use the devices that are connected to electricity to straighten my hair?
I suppose a massage with magnet stones will not be a good idea.
Thank you in advance,
Mk

Hi to All in Pacemaker World. I have a DDDR twin wire PM fitted for the last 4years with no problems. I am a mechanic and have an easy job. Last week I was told of a promotion but it means having to work on vehicles that are fitted with Keyless entery systems. Has anyone come across interferences from these vehicles. I was told by a friend of mine who works on lexus vehicles that the system used 3 or 4 years did effect PM's. Any body have anything on this subject.
PM has never given me any...

Hi guys, hope everyone is well and looking forward to the festivities :)
Just a query my parents are buying me an ipad2 for christmas along with a polyurethane smart cover which as far as i know works magnetically. Just wondering if this is likely to affect my PM? and how far away i should be keeping it from the area.
Thanks Merry christmas!!

Can anyone tell me if a TENS Test will interfere with my PM.
My chiropractor suggested I have this test but I wanted to learn more about it and if it adversely effects my PM
Thanks

I have just bought a new vehicle, but did not get built in seat warmers. I am thinking of buying the plug in kind. Anyone know if they interfere with pacemakers? I have a Medtronics dual voltage. THank you.

Ive been having interference with my defibrillator/pacemaker at work when using this big industrial FRS two way radio, it has a magnet inside the battery. Is this suppose to happen? If so I guess I need to let my boss know so we can figure something else out. It causes beeping sounds and a funny sensation.

I suffer from anxiety too...but everytime I go to Best Buy, or similar places, I start feeling weird for a few minutes or seconds after entering the store...any idea?
After that it goes away. The sensation is like a little faster heart beat, like being anxious...or could it be from all the electronics items like tv and stuff that they have there.
Thanks

Hey everyone (:
I live in Winnipeg also known as Winterpeg LOL. I went out for a walk a couple days ago and it was very cold; the area were my device is was quite sore and when I came inside I could still feel a bit of pain. My question is can the cold weather bother my device? or was it just the regular pain I normally get?
Anyways, thanks for reading & your comments back (:

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
