Happy New Year !
I just wanted to share with everyone that I have always been a competetive athlete..both college and Professional..I was diagnosed with 'Dilated Cardiomyopathy' in 2009 and recieved my first 'Medtronic' pacemaker/defiberlator....after recieving it, it took awhile for me to return to a somewhat normal life...I went back to the gym and learned to use my learned athletic skills to help me stay in great shape thru workout and diet...however, on November 10th/2012...I noticed o...

Im sorry, but obviously my last post did't go, or the last. Never mind, just a glitch in the matrix. I am 47 years old and I am on my 6th pacemaker, but untill 2007 I was on single chamber. Since then till now, it looks like my third atrial lead replacement. I live in Ireland so it is not so easy for second opinion to be found except outside the the country. I am going to Papworth in the UK next week for a second opinion, anyone have any thoughts what I might do..?

Hello I have been told that my vent lead is not seated correctly and I need to have a procedure to correct this. Sounds like the lead will not be removed but reinforced - can anyone give me more info on what to expect please?

I did mention this in a reply to a posting but would like some input.
1. 1 year old PM with 2 years life left in battery? Only pacing 17% of the time. I vaguely remember the tech mentioning the short life-span at the first interrogation, but she said it must be a glitch. Possibly a dud?
2 As mentioned before, have sort of a string that goes from below my clavicle up my neck - thought it was a n irritated nerve as it causes refered pain to shoulder and neck muscles when pressed. (Get so...

Hi I'm going in to get a new battery in January but they have told me I need my old leads out as they are 37 years old and one has crumbled and is not working. I have had a duel chamber pm since the early 80's just wondering if any one has had leads out after such a long time being in? I had my first pm implanted when I was 18 and 5 months pregnant with my first son in 1974 hope I hear from some of you thanks listening

In October, 2012, I had a Boston Scientific PM put in to replace my Medtronic PM. When it was checked in December, they said the lead in the bottom chamber was acting strangely, and that I should not use my left arm for 4 weeks and return to have it checked. My leads were not changed from the earlier PM, so I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the Boston Scientific? and perhaps the lead is still properly in the bottom chamger. An X-ray showed that the leads are properly installed.

Over the summer I posted my frustration regarding the disagreement between cardiologist and electrophysiologist whether I needed a third lead to help with debilitating shortness of breath. Had a repeat echocardiogram last week to evluate if interventricular delay was causing breathing problem. The result was no mechanical delay and slight electrical delay. There is no definitive reason to have another lead inserted. I guess the battle between the two egomanical doctors is over for now. Two po...

My heart was beating 33/50 that's why i did have my PM,,, I was told that both of my cham...

Hi every one. Hope you are all doing well. I have not been on for a while because i have been dealing with a lot of chest pain and just feeling very tired and fatigued (more than usual). I wanted to ask you guys about the elective replacement indicator of end of life indicator on your pacemakers. The tech told me I have from 1 to 4 months left on my battery life. However my doc wants me to wait until the ERI kicks in and i am a bit scared. I am a 100 percent dependent on my dual chamber pacemake...

Hi everyone,
Have had two pacemaker generator changes since 1999. I have had lots of symptoms over the year without any diagnostic results. Recently I was told my impedance is 200. I need to schedule a wire replacement. THe MD is going to meet with me after holidays. Can anyone discuss how their surgery went and the recovery...
I have a dual chamber but just the atrial wire is going. Worried the ventricular wire will be next. Do they every replace both. My vent paces 100 p...

1. Should battery longevity increase if the pulse rate setting is reduced to the average pulse before pacemaker implantation (e.g., from 60 to 50 - my former average pulse)?
2. Can the pulse rate settings of the implanted pacemaker be changed by an external device?
3. If you had a transplant or replacement since 2010, what type of battery is installed in your pacemaker ?
Thanks

I have a Replant Op on the 14th Dec to prevent the little sucker from breaking out ( Glenfield Leicester UK)
Can you help me decode these notes:
" Mr TM is pacing 5% of the time. On looking at his ECGs he is A paced V paced, at other times he is A Paced V Sensed. As he is pacing 5% of the time the question is whether we can improve the longevity of the battery...........If we can try and change the Pacing Regime to prevent Ventricular Pacing that may be helpful. There is a s...

HI All - Newbe here. Had BostonSci Guidant ICD put in in mid 2007. Time for replacement and was told by tech although they will install a new Boston unit there preference would be to go with a St. Jude or Medtronics as Boston has thier own propritarty systems for reading and managing the device. Been reading up and seems like Medtronics has there act together but am also happy with the unit I have had from Boston for the past 5 years. Thoughts?
I'll post more about the beepi...

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
