I just had my pacemaker implanted 9/1/2015 and my heart rate went down to 38 yesterday. I went to my Dr's office today and they said the top lead may be loose. But since it has only happened once we will wait and see if it happens again. My question is, is this common?

I'am wondering if anyone has ever had this problem. I just got my pacemaker two days ago on Wednesday, August 26th. In the two days I've had it, I have been experiencing a shortness of breath and trouble breathing. Has anyone else ever had or heard of this? I would appreciate any feedback.

I have had defibrillator since march 2006. my initial heart attack in dec 2005 damaged the left lower ventricle section of my heart. never did my defibrillator go off till 3 days ago. thank goodness. I was out of town so of course called my dr. I also was back in my home town so I went to original dr so they could read the device to see what happened. was told that the lead was cracked and my heart was fine. the icd went off due to the crack in the lead. about 3 weeks ago my Dr said he do...

This is my comment raised on an earlier post, but I decided to post it under its own thread here, as one or two folk, may possibly identify with some of my issues re having a pacemaker fitted.
Comment as follows:
I do still have a but, regarding my aftercare.
Tracey, you said what an excellent team I had and in the main I agree. However, there are aspects to my care I do not think are or were very good.
Initially when diagnosed and prior to the fitting, my condition was...

I had an EnRhythm Medtronic implanted 4 years ago (it is not MRI-compatible) and am due for a new battery in the next year. I am plagued with (probably arthritic) knee pain and it is impacting my overall health through losing lower body flexibility and strength. I would like to be able to get an MRI. I live near Stanford and San Francisco. I wrote a similar note months ago but can't find the excellent advice I was given. I am a 68 year old female. Many thanks in advance.

I am having "Noise" or interference on my PM. It has been going on for several months now. I originally went in to the Dr.s office telling them that I could feel the pings like 10 a day, but that I noticed that it would happen whenever I moved my arm a certain way. Of course not being able to duplicate on demand. It got worse to where I was feeling the pings 50 times a day with 3 or 4 pings in a row. Interrogation showed 1600 noises in the 2 months. PM rep changed settings and turned off som...

Hi! My mom-in-law had her pacemaker implanted last Dec '09. Is there an expiration date for this device? Medtronic IPG VVI SESO1? She could not remember that she was advised to come back for a certain # of years for the replacement of this device. What are the indications that it needs to be replaced? No home monitoring was advised as well. Appreciate your inputs please. Thanks!

Help... does any one elses screwheads almost poke through the skin at the top of their pacers? My first pm was put in last October and had to be re-buried in May this year as it was very protruding and the screwheads were visible. Now its happening all over again and I am so fed up and sad about it. I am thin to say the least weigh about 8 stone and am 5ft 4 so quite small all over with no fatty tissue in which to bury it really. I do feel better with it but my consultant promised...

Hi!
I had my pacemaker checked in the office yesterday and the tech said it is making a lot of "noise" and she suspects either the leads or the caps are damaged. My pacemaker was implanted in 2004. The doctor is on vacation for one month, and I live in a small town. Could someone please clarify for me:
1. What are pacemaker "caps?" Do we all have them?
2. What is this "noise" she was talking about it?
3. What can be done about it?
4. Am I in some kind of danger with my p...

Hi, just looking for some advice and reassurance! 3 months ago I had my faulty leads and pacemaker replaced, the surgeon put my new system on the right side and I chose to have my old lead left in instead of extracted. I'm paced 100% of the time for complete heart block. My old leads were playing up for months before they were finally replaced, had a lot of non capture and pvcs, my heart became very irritated and sensitive. My symtoms have improved massively but I still get a few symtoms, when I...

Hi all,
My St Jude pace has reached his EOL some time ago. It always kept his frequency of 80 bps but it seem to power off and on and off again. When it power off, my heart take some seconds (2-4) before beating again (at 30 BPM).
The power up periods of the PM can be of 1 sec like 1 day before powering off again. I heard somewhere that the St Jude's pm at EOL must beat at 65 bpm until it really die. What's going on with mine ? Any idea ?
Wish u all a good day !<...

Hello - New here looking for feedback regarding early termination of batteries. 2nd time it has occurred to me and I'm curious if this is common. Thought I'd ask the experts, the human ones not the doctors with the robotic answers.
any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would just like to run this by everyone, in case anyone has had a similar experience or is just interested.
About a 3 years ago, a year after a pace maker was inserted for heart block, I had alternating episodes of low blood pressure and maximum rate, and high pressure and minimum rate. This was after doing some strenuous work involving driving nails.
The electrophysiologist first said that it was "electromechanical dissociation", and later changed it to "under-sensing."...

Hi everyone! I am posting this message in behalf of my father.. He should have an operation for a pacemaker but then we are awaiting for the help of the PCSO.. Unfortunately, it's too much time consuming. It was my mother who's going to their office but then again, they always say to try another day.. My mom is also a senior citizen.. So, a person with a good heart gave a pacemaker to my brother (so thankful to him/her). We just wanted to ask where to have it checked if it still works.. Your res...

I had to have pacemaker replaced after 2 months due to loose leads. I think it has happened again. I keep having these episodes. Like it feels hollow in my chest?? First it was just at night when going to sleep, but the past several weeks it happens all the time! Has anyone experienced this awful sensation? First time they told me it was just anxiety until they saw the x-ray and could see the leads dangling! I would really love to hear about anyones experience with this also.

I have recently been seeing a Dr. Brenya at Toledo Clinic and have a Biotronik pacemaker installed in my during 2008. This is year doctors being caught getting big payouts to use this product. I was not consulted in advance which type of pacemaker I wanted and entire time I had this pacemaker experienced wild blood pressure swings from syncope to tachycardia. This year the pacemaker died without my doctor catching it in time. He yelled at me for letting it die. How could I know? He had to...
