Static in frequency

I have a St Jude Dual Chamber PM (Bradycardia) that was installed November 2009, so almost four years). Three yrs ago there was a wire issue with the PM causing the alarm to go off as it also kept stimulating my pectoral muscle intermittently (very embarrassing). Since I only have Bradycardia, I was told I didn't really need that wire currently, so they just turned it off. After my annual cardiology interrogation, t he tech found several intermittent static interferences in the used lead ca...

Medtronic Recall - Fractured Leads

I was unfortunate to have and ICD by Medtronic, implanted in Sept 2005. I was caught up in the Recall of my device. The Medtronic reps adjusted some settings after I had been zapped on numerous occasions, The Lawyers did their song and dance and I dont know where the settlement went, But I was simply trying to live stress free. Fast Forward to May 25, 2013, Device began beeping days after an interrogation. Went to the Cardio Clinic and my batteries are depleted. But, there's one little problem;...

leads

I am due to have a battery change in the next few months as soon as my reading are so Medicare will pay for the surgery. When I saw the Dr. she said she would just slip the new battery in the old pocket. She said that one of the leads was pretty good and the other was very good and she sees no reason to replace either.
My question is that the excess lead wire pushes out the skin and shows above the pacemaker . It is unsightly but when I asked her if she could hide it somehow she seeme...

Feeling Great

Had my original pacemaker 2/2013.Long story short the first EP botched the surgery. My regular cardiologist ignored, signed off when there was a lead warning, and blew me off even after 7 appts with him and the Medtronic people over a 4 month period. I sought help at the Cleveland Clinic where I was not ignored, I was treated with respect, they listened, they validated my symptoms and more. On 5/1/2013 I was scheduled for an atrial lead extraction and replacement but when they saw all of the damag...

question

I have a St Jude model 5386 pacemaker implanted in 2004 and want to know if my device will sound an audible alarm when the battery gets low. My husband said he heard a beeping noise for a few seconds last night as I was sleeping. We are wondering if any of you know if it could possibly be my pacemaker. I was told on my last visit last week that I have about 3 months left on the battery and will now be getting checked monthly. However, my question is whether this model will sound an alarm? Thank...

discomfort after battery change

Hi Guys
I have had my PM exchanged for new battery two months ago and still feel some discomfort at the incision, which has healed but is still visible. The discomfort is like a soft burning sensation when lift my left arm, or the underwear touches the area. I am still reluctant to return to my regular morning gymnastics. Should I star this now regular again and ignore the discomfort or could this reopen the incisiom site?
Thanks
Dave

No change

Hi -

I'm new to this group. I have a concern - maybe you can help. I had a Guidant/Boston Scientific PM installed in 2008. I was told the battery life would be 5-7 years. Starting at the end of last year, my check ups showed less than 6 months of battery life. Since that time, I have been having the PM checked every month. EVERY TIME, the reading is exactly the same. I have the printouts of the longevity remaining and the little graphic showing how much time till I get to ERT (...

?

My interrogation had shown a battery life of 8 to 10 (9). This seems a like too much life since I'm Pacino 90.3% of the time. With requiring that much pacing, doesn't that mean I am dependent. On it?

Update

Just an update to those who commented/read my decreased EF post. A lot has happened in the last week! I am now scheduled for surgery this Thursday for a new generator and a lead extraction and replacement..eek! Long story short, my doc was fine with just monitoring the EF since he was not entirely confident that it is really decreased, could have just been the radiologist that read it, so he was having another one take a look at it. Battery still had 7 months left.

As I was leavin...

max leads ?

New here checking in on behalf of wife. Currently has two leads thank to two differant mistakes. First lead didn't embed, put in second (this goes back 10 or 15 years. Subsequent battery replacement physician nicked the lead. Patched with super glue, looked horrible.
Recent battery done using same lead by a great physician, did a nice job to undue the ratnest created by another, made a nice pocket and looked great.
Any now the battery is only three years old and will wear out in a yea...

PM and lead change

Anyone able to give an idea of how long before someone with a total PM and both lead change should be able to resume working. Both PM and leads will likely be moved to opposite side of body (have lead fracture (18 year old leads)

Dead Battery???

I had my pacemaker installed in late Nov of 2004 - I have since stopped having check ups with both the cardiologist and Medtronics. I am low income and have no insurance so I can't afford to do the call ins or visit the dr. for check ups - it's been just over 8 years and I'm wondering if my batteries are still working and if I'll have any shocks or pains or anything like that when the batteries do go out - I just turned 59, am in great health, resting heartbeat is about 72 , blood pressure tends...

temporary pacemaker on leg

Hello! I am new to the club. I am not a PM user, but my mother is and since she is not a computer 'user', I am doing some research for her. She is 75 years old, has had a St.Jude's pacemaker since August 2006, and during her last checkup the doc said she has maximum 2 months left. In a few days she will have her Pacemaker replaced. Since her heart is not helping along AT ALL, the doc said that they would connect a temporary pacemaker on her leg while they replaced the current pacemaker. Sounds a...

Update.... Pacer and leads extraction

Hi again everyone. Mermaidjan here again...
The anxious RN who was having surgery
April 29. Well a 'fluke' happened. I had been exposed
To my granddaughter (age3) several days before
Hospitalized with a severe case of 'rotavirus'
(Vomiting and diarrhea). You guessed it -
I developed severe diarrhea during the night
before my surgery so it was postponed for 2
weeks! I couldn't stop smiling! The best thing
that happened was that I spoke to an excell...

Have a pacemaker usage %?

Last appointment I went 1% using the pacemaker to being completely dependent on the pacemaker. He said I am in sinus Rythm in the ventricals but not in the atrium or lower chambers. He said its not firing all the way down. I confused about it. What would cause the drastic change like that.
Thanks Karen
