Hello to all, I am fortunately a healthy individual who loves her new bionic husband with his back up battery. I am the researcher of the family as such I am on a mission to discover if anyone who has received a pacemaker has experienced a rise in their blood pressure following the the insertion.
Facts:
Diagnosis: Bradycardia/Vagus Tonus
Operation: Sept.2011
PM Type: Meditronic ADDRL 01 Atr lead/RV lead
Mode: DDDR
My husband is a 67 yr old athlete and con...

Just back from being "tuned" (6 week after PM). What a nice technician. All OK but changed settings. Switched off movement sensor so i dont go into sleep mode. (My heart was going down to 45 bpm with this on) Upped the threshhold to 60 (it was at 50bpm). So I wont go below 60 bpm now. Lowered the voltage to .3 from .5. Lead seems to have shifted again slightly. Will check again in 3 months.
Cant tell what this strange "bubble" sensation is in my throat. Nothing to do with the pacemaker.

Monitor work with a digital phone line, like Time Warner Cable? We are about to switch over from a standard land line service to Time Warner. They say that we still use the same wall jacks which they connect to behind the scenes and then runs through their fiber optic lines to be transmitted.
I can still cancel that so thought I'd better see if anyone here has any experience with this.
Thanks for any input.

I had my ICD/Pacemaker put in March 2011, so not even a year yet. I have the device that sends in the info about my device to the Dr. Last time I did a scan my Dr called me and told me I needed to see the rep for St. Jude.
Since I live a few hours away I asked if I could get it the same day as my 6 month check up with my EP. Does that mean something may have been wrong with my last test or is it normal to have to see the rep? I am just curious as to why I would have to see the...

Getting a pacemaker at the age of 36...WOW! For me, it’s been difficult to deal with. That being said, I am happy to have found this site.
I had a dual chamber Medtronic pacer placed on 12-2 for Sick Sinus Syndrome. My rate settings are 60-130. I was recently in the ER having fallen and broke my finger. When they put me on the monitor, I noticed that my heart rate would brady down in the low 50’s, I would have a 1-2 second pause, followed by coupled PVC’s...

Hi
I'm 5 weeks post surgery for a dual lead scientific. I'm PM dependant from A-Fib that meds would not control and didnt want to go the ablation route. I have the vagus nerve A fib.
Anyway went for my first adjustment today, they turned on my sensor for respiration and supposedly set me at 70-140 from 80-130. Checked my resting rate for the past 2 hours at intervals, and was sitting down. My rest is either 80 or 84!!!?? How can this be.?? And all the rotten luck my doc is lea...

My 6 mothly pacemaker check was this wednesday. On the way I visited a friend I had made whilst in hospital who was overweight and he was given a triple heart bypass. I found him in a poor state of health with shortness of breath and fluid leaking out from his legs which looked a very nasty problem to say the least. The check went well but I am down to 2 1/2 years left on the battery which will equate to a life of 7 years. When returning home I was told of a near neighbour who has had a pacemak...

Had PM in July of this year. My cardiologist recently asked me why my PM is pacing all the time. I was under the impression it was supposed to pace if heart rate went below 60. The electrophysiology nurse could not give me a satisfactory answer and said if I wanted it adjusted to come in. I was there last month and no changes were made. Its not my call whether I want an adjustment made or not. I am so frustrated at lack of information. I am concerned that if it paces all the time the batt...

It will be 2 years in February 2012 that I received my pacemaker for third degree heartblock. It came on all of a sudden and the doctors were stumped. I was in the hospital for 5 days and they ran tons of tests. The EP felt bad for me since I had no pre-existing conditions that would explain why this happened to me.
So for the first 7 months of being paced almost 100%, in September of last year (2010) the doctor decided to make an adjustment in my pm and while doing so saw that my he...

I'm a 62-year old with sick sinus syndrome, had my PM implant 2 weeks ago and feel fine. I want to get back to running as soon as possible as I miss it like crazy - been running for 30 years, BUT my rate response mode on my AAIR PM is switched off at the moment and they won't switch it on until I go back for my first check after another 3 weeks. I went for a 2-mile jog this morning and had exactly the same sudden heart rate drop symptoms while running as I had before the PM. Does anyone know why...

I was wondering if anyone out there could relate to the lowering of the pacemaker during sleep, as the heart normally does, and what benefit there might be to that? I see the question may not be intelligently raised. I should have added for someone who is not pacemaker dependent.
My cardiologist suggested that recently, but it did not turn out well. The time it was set for did not hold nor did the time it was supposed to be programmed for daily activities. For lack of a better ex...

I woke up this morning to a call from medtronic telling me to transmit my data anytime tomorrow. They have always done this without my knowing and sent me the result. I have never done this so i hope i do it right. No doubt they will let me know if I do something wrong. What has changed and why wasn’t I told well before it happened so that I could check on what to do? I am assuming I just press that button and sit there like I did to set it up.

Hello there and thank you for always making me feel optimistic about having a pace maker. I am 45 and an avid runner. I have had my pacemaker for almost a year and have been back to the office several times to get "tweaked". I am set at 60-130 due to bradycardia and have all settings turned off. My heart rate seems to jump up when I walk up a flight of stairs in the a.m. to wake up kids and my heart feels like it is going to jump out of my chest, same when moving around slowly. Sometimes I...

In 2009 I was diagnosed with Total (Third Degree) Heart Block. As a result I was fitted with dual lead pm and have attended pacing checks since.
At a recent check I was told that my atrial pacing was about 52% and ventricular was about 54%. I understand that "block" is a break in the electrical connection between the top and bottom half of the heart but that the atrial sinus is unaffected and continues to work normally. It is only when the impulse fails to reach the lower chambers that the p...

I posted here a couple of weeks discussing my new PM and shortness of breath issues.
Outcomes have been good but here's a general outline for others who might be looking for answers.
After being slighly misguided by a PM tech (not my regular one) into believing my funny beat feelings were ectopic beats I had a much longer session with the regular tech. Whilst I was fitted with a PM for 3rd degree AV Block which lasted for some 12 hours it seems I dont pace that often and on...

I am a 7 week pacemaker recipient and while I was working out tonight at my new gym I realized my heart rate was at 136. I remembered my pacemaker is set for a minimum of 50 and a Max of 140. I know that at 50 the PM kicks in and manages my rhythm until I get above 50. What happens if my heart rate goes above 140 while working out?

Just wondered if anyone could advise my hubby: has had a PM along with a mechanical mitral valve replacement for 2 nearly 3 yrs now, and the last couple of days he has mentioned he has had this strange feeling that comes and goes, he describes it as lightheadedness and hot; he said it reminds him of the same feeling he has when he goes for his PM check and they switch it off or down. It happened 2x over the last couple of days, does anyone else have this feeling or is it worth ge...

I have had a pacemaker almost a year and about four months ago I went into A fib. Doctors primed me for and shocked my heart back in rhythm and it stayed only four days. They elevated my heart beat to 80 beats per minute and put me on rhythm medicine and I have started gaining weight from inactivity.
I have started riding my exercise bike for short stints and my heart beat never goes above 80 but my blood pressure goes high like200/130. My blood pressure is cont...

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
