I have a Medtronic dual lead Pacemaker, implanted 9/10/10 and am recuperating well. From the beginning, I have felt 'pings' in the pacemaker area every time I sit at my granite kitchen counter. Is it possible that there is magnetism given off from granite? ( the nurses and doctor I have spoken to about it say that it is normal nerve reconnection happening- but every time I sit at that counter and nowhere else????

I was in Walmart yesterday with my daughter and she got some earrings at the jewelry dept. We paid for the items then set off the security system. I pulled out my card as always when I set them off (usually going in some stores). The jewelry was what was setting the system off. The Walmart greeter went and took a machine off the wall. He then scanned the item to deactivate it. My daughter caught me as my legs buckled out from under me. It was a real weird feeling but it passed real soon after. I...

Hello, friends. I'm wondering if it's OK to use a magnetized sweeper for meteorite hunting- maybe if I kept it at arms' length? My PM is a Medtronic dual chamber Enpulse.

Does loud music and speaking over a microphone system interfere with pace maker and what is the interference. How much damage does it do to the pacemaker patient, or what side effects if any will there be if around the above. For instance in church.

Can anyone tell me if a Kindle will interfere with a pacemaker?
I have been a recipient since 7/8/9 and all had been well.
Received a Kindle for my birthday in July and have not felt right since.

On Friday as I entered and left a store, I set off the alarm. This is the first time this has happened to me since the pm implant 18 months ago.
Does this mean that the pm goes back to the factory settings, cos I had had it tweaked a while back to stop pm mediated tachycardia and I keep feeling like those same symptoms have returned slightly. However, I do have a very vivid imagination! I can always ring up and ask for a check but I thought that if it was impossible for the security gate...

My defribulator started setting off store alarms in Nov. 2009 until June 2010.Then in Aug.2010 it started setting them off again.
I called Medtronic and was told they shouldn't do that.My doctors and nurses said yhey have never seen that before.
It doesn't do it in all stores. Most of the time when I tell the store employees I have a pacemaker, they let me go with no problem. At Walmart is where I have the most problems. Some of the "greeters" are very obnoxious.I'll explain I have a pacem...

I have a Cateye wireless computer, (speedometer), on my bicycle.
One particular intersection in town will drive the computer nuts. It has a maximum speed function that will read in excess of 70mph and the unit seems to be rapidly changing functions. I can assure you that I'm not that fast.
It will take a fairly strong electromagnetic field to effect that computer. Fortunately I didn't notice any change with my pacemaker while sitting there waiting for the light to change.....

Hello All,
I am new to the "Club". I got a Medtronic Adapta L implanted on June 17th. I may be wrong, but I don't think so -- my necklace seems to "stick" to the pacemaker site. I am guessing that it generates some level of electromagnetic field.
Does anyone else experience that, am I crazy or neurotic?
If you do, can the metal (Gold) cause any ill effect.
Thanks for any responses. I think this site is wonderful, and have read many of the wonderful...

and planning on putting in a house generator in case of loss of power. We are building in the country and Com Ed is famous for it LOL
The placement of the generator will be outside of my master bath along the private deck we have there. My bed will be on the opposite side of the room and i'm sure i won't be soaking in the tub during a power outage, but while discussing the generator with our electrician, the thought crossed my mind as to weather the generator would interfere with my PM.

My daughter's neighbor just sold his property to the power company. They are going to put in a high voltage transfer station. She believes it is 274 volts?, but not sure. I have a new PM that was put in may of this year (2010). I am 50 years old and very new to the PM concept. Can anyone help me with any information about being around one of these high voltage transfer stations? They are looking at her property as a buffer zone. If they put the station in, can I still visit her at her home?

Just wanted to let everyone know (that might be planning some summer amusement park fun) that I went the other day & didn't experience ANY thing at all!!
I even rode a roller coaster!!
We went with a few of the grandkids to Kings Island & had a blast!!!
6 & 1/2 hours of fun in the sun!! LOL
I was a bit nervous because I have read different opinions, etc. So was quite happy that I didn't feel anything with the PM.

Hello everyone. I'm Cher and 60 yrs. old. Just found this website this morning. I had my St. Jude's PM put in 2/15/10 and had to have the lead reattached to my heart on 2/16/10. I have healed pretty well. I have a couple of questions for everyone. I happened to think - I have my yearly mammogram scheduled for September. I'm thinking I won't have any more of those? Also, for about 3 weeks now, my left thumb hurts to move it back and forth, have pain in upper left arm, my left shoulder is...
