If you are female, put your bra on in pre-surgery and make them mark where your PM will go to the inside of your strap. I have narrow shoulders and was worried to death about the strap going across my PM. My EP said 'just wear a strapless bra'........ha, that' s a guy for you. I told my PC and SHE told me to be firm and have it marked exactly where you want it to be. I got some hassle but it was worth it as I'm sure if my strap went over my PM it would h...

Hi,
I got a dual chamber pacemaker less than a week ago on the upper left side of my chest. I’m 23. Since then, I’ve been unable to sleep on either side and have to lay straight on my back at all times. As a result, my back is sore, my neck stiff and I can’t sleep well because it’s uncomfortable and my back hurts all the time.
Is this normal post surgery? How long until you can sleep on your sides again? Even the right side, if left still needs time until s...

Hi I’m getting my dual chamber pacemaker on Monday 7/16. I can’t take any type of pain medication due to severe allergies so I’m wondering how much pain should I expect after the surgery and how long did it take to recover? I’m 50 and in good shape but the last month I’ve struggled with shortness of breath and been extremely tired. I also have RA so that hasn’t helped.
Any advice would be appreciated as I am becoming extremely anxious as Monday...

First, I am now 5 days post-op PM and 7 days post-op Watchman. I had a day of rest in the hospital between the two procedures. Both went really well except for the bruising up and down both arms, right groin and of course around the PM insertion site. I'm still getting such strange looks from people, I just tell them I'm recovering from a gunshot wound. LOL I was back in my room by around 2:30 and much to my surprise my Doc said, after going through all of the post-op instruction...

Hi all,
I've posted several times here in the past year regarding excessive and long-term pain post surgery. I had surgery 1 year ago to get my pacemaker replaced and they put it under my pectoral muscle. I was having horrible pain for the first 4-5 months and it lightened up after but a year later I still have pain with big movements like jumping or even a bumpy car ride.
I got x-rays done at the chiropractor's office because my doctor wasn't...

I had my pacemaker implanted on June 20. The week prior to the implant I was in the hospital for kidney stones and had two separate procedures under anesthesia. At that time my heart rate was fine. A day and a half after coming home from hospital I had to call the squad because I was in so much pain from the kidney stones that they did not get. When the fire department got to my home, my heart rate was 37 and naturally they questioned if it was normally that low. ...

Had PM surgery last Friday, 6/22. Received a double chamber Medtronic, which was placed in the Left Upper Chest. The next day, Saturday, 6/23, along with the usual PAIN, I started experiencing Left Sholder pain that continues today. If I move my Left arm in certain directions, the shoulder pain is unbearable. It seems to be a dull-burning pain, that I believe to be nerve -pain??
Any of you folks experience this, if so did it pass and how long did you suffer...

Hello All,
I recieved my pacemaker exactly 2 weeks ago. I have been changing the dressing covering my sutures (which are dissolvable stiches with butterfly stich tape) every day after my follow-up visit. Should i still continue to keep them covered or start leaving them uncovered the butterfly tape on one incision is starting to peel up after i was cleared to get wet and shower. I am just wondering if i am keeping them covered for too long? Thank you for any advice!

Hello all,
I just joined as I had a pacemaker implanted 6/21/18 for a slow beat.
I have been feeling dizziness, a little all the time and a significant amount when I get up after laying down or crouching down.
I also feel some tiredness.
Is this normal, or is it something that I should call about before my appointment in 3 days?
Thanks for your help!

I turned 33 on June 7th.
I stayed at home because I was extremely fatigued as I had been for what felt like months.
The fatigue and lightheadedness got worse and worse and I went to Urgent Care June 16th because I missed half a day Thursday, all of Friday, and didn't feel I was going to have the energy to return to work on Monday either. I was directed to go to the ER for a head CT.
My ER visit turned into admission, which turned into over 25 vials of blood,&...

Hi! I am a new member and joined because on Tuesday, July 7th I'll be getting a biventricular pacemaker and am afraid that my expectaions for post op recovery may be a little unrealistc. At least that's what my family is telling me....repeatedly. On the 3rd I'll be admitted for placement of a WATCHMAN device in my Left atrial appendage and because I'm in heart block and have been so SOB and tired as a result and the Watchman/procedure could potentially put me in a m...

I just had my pm battery replaced. Which, as you know, the doctor just changes out the entire device replacing it with a new one. The thing about my wound is it is itchy and I have just one little strip of adhesive over the incision area. Would it be okay for me to remove that tape. I noticed some dry hardened, almost blackish scabby crusts flaking off from inderneath the tape. . I only have two days before my new device check. I'm afraid of getting any type of topical infection...

I had my battery replaced Monday. I posted then becauase that didn’t go so smooth and now it looks like one end of my incision might not be looking so good. I noticed yesterday it was redder than the rest of it. Then today quite a bit redder. Then I noticed it was oozing just in that spot. It was glued shut so it’s been completely dry and glue is still there. Is this normal for a week out or is this a sign it could be getting infected?
