leadsblockingvein

6months I noticed a swelling on my collar bone. I had also been having pain in my neck and left ear.. after a CAT scan I was told nothing wrong. 1 month ago I was given another test scan and they said I have a blocked vein where the leads fromthe PM enter the vein. I have been told they can do nothing about this I have to live with this for ever. Is this common as I have been put on warerin to help prevent blood clots which does worry me. Has anyone else had or has this problem Nai

Battery usage increased...

I was diagnosed with Type I and Type II 2nd degree heart block when I was two years old. I now have CHF and all types of other issues. I am 26 and about to have my first change out... but here at my last pacemaker check I had used 2 months of battery life in only one month.... anyone else ever have this happen? Doesn't that sound strange to have used so much in just one month??? And how tired did you get at the end of your battery life? I now have less than 3 months left on my battery.

Battery Conservation mode

Does anyone know what to expect in "battery conservation mode"? I had my pacemaker replaced with a CRT-P in January, then again in April when the a-lead had noise and the pacemaker battery life was already low. Now it's July and I'm told that I need to go in because the pacemaker is in "battery conservation mode". I have been having trouble just walking. We've been camping and hiking. However, it's extremely difficult to get around. I'm short of breath; the pacemaker doesn't seem to increa...

Should I be concerned???

Just a bit of history. Last June my cardiologist told me I had 6mo-1yr left on my battery. I had a check up in December and again they said I had 6mo-1yr. I went back March to have my battery checked and was told it was now 3mo-6mo and that I would need to come in monthly since I do not have home monitoring. I had my pacemaker checked in April with the same message and again today I had it checked. I went to a different office that is closer to my house and saw and EP nurse that I have not seen...

2nd PM and a bit uneasy

Hello! This Sunday will mark 8 years with my first PM and I could not be more grateful. At my last appointment, my doc said he thought I could make it to next summer before my replacement but lately I've been feeling "off." Something just doesn't feel right. I'm getting checked in the next few days to make sure that my battery has not turned off early (something my doc said was possible).
Now my question. My PM is implanted under the muscle (doc went in through my armpit). Does that affect...

Power pack replaced! hahaha

Hi new friends.... Had the 2nd replacement PM implanted yesterday, all went well, in fact I went home an hour early. I have vicodin to help with pain, but it is more like a dull ache. Woke up at 4:30 this am & couldn't get back to sleep so got up at 5am... I figure I will doze off & on thru the day... good excuse to watch the College World Series & take it easy... was hoping Oregon State would advance, but heir ride was over yesterday... sigh...
Hopefully, my low BP & lack of energy & ambi...

Forgot this....

One of the nurses mentioned yesterday as we got ready for the replacement, that the new PM is a good thing as they are always making improvements with new technology moving so fast, and the new PM will possibly include features the old one did not.... so I guess I will be new & improved! Like that idea!!

Queen of Stupid...

I felt so good this morning, BP up to 110/62, made a jello salad, then outside to water a few potted plants, then decided to pull some dandelions which were huge & easy to pull as it has been raining here for several days.... (you know where this is going, right?)
DH came out & pulled some thistles, we piled into 2 wheel barrows, and .... I hit that wall... I could barely make it up the hill (50 steps) into the house... BP had dropped to 72/52... my firend thinks the vicodin masked the fa...

weird sensation

Hello everyone...

is it possible that my lead could be stimulating a nerve in my artery? I get these weird sensations in my upper chest right where the lead goes down to my heart. My pm is on the right side, so the lead goes above the pm and then heads downward to my left ventricle. The sensation only lasts a split second and my heart will do a half beat right at the same time the sensation hits. It doesn't hurt, it's just annoying. I cannot get a clear answer from my pm clinic, so I...

It's official.... it's NOT my PM... wait ...yes it

I've been emailing with nurses at the EP's office... sent in an interrogation of device, as advised ,so tech could read & doc could interpret.
Nothing for 24 hours... new email... making sure I wasn't forgotten.
Phone call: "didn't nurse Sue call you, she said she did...." umm, no.
"PM is OK... not related to symptoms. See you Friday for your new battery!!"
New email...me...." hmmm... SOMETHING is causing the sudden drop of BP & inability to do normal activities... hard to li...

Choosing new lead to put in...

I am 33 years old and had a St Jude ICD put in in 2005, along with a now recalled Riata lead. Last summer I was asked to take an xray (as recommended by St Jude after the recall was announced) to see if the wire have externalized. They took a look at the xray and determined that everything was still intact and said they would monitor it. I just got my new generator put on mid-May and before they sedated me they decided to run a fluoroscopy which revealed that the wires had in fact become externa...

out of energy.... lo battery causing?

My pacemaker alarm was turned off 2 weeks ago to stop the daily beeping of the alarm, I have noticed decreased energy the past month and now this last week it feels like I am trudging thru wet concrete when I am doing normal chores, dishes, food prep, watering hanging baskets on porch or pots of plants.

Cut some rhubarb at the end of the driveway ( this is 100 steps downhill ) & had to stop 5 or 6 times on the way back up the hill. Usually I do this plus walk around the property...

Scared To Death Of Lead Extraction

Hi Group -

I am new to this site so first let me say thanks for reading this. My name is Sarah and I am a 34 mother of two little boys that are 6 and 3 and a beautiful step daughter who is also 3. I have my hands full to say the least. I have been batter powered, as my oldest would say, since I was 13. I have been through many different batteries but am on my initial set of leads from 21 years ago. I am going in next Monday to have the leads removed and new ones put in. Due to...

pulled leads

Can anyone tell me how they know if their leads have moved? I had a pacer placed 2 months ago. I used to feel the ventricle pace occasionally under my breast but recently it feels higher than before. Just wondering how you know if there is a problem. Don't want the doc to think I am paranoid of every little thing.

Lead replacement

Last wednesday 6/5 at 4:15 am I was awakened by my defibrillator at first I thought maybe I just hit it in my sleep but then I thought maybe it just went off but I felt fine then bang the second jolt kicked me and I knew then what it was then another jolt and except for the jolts which kicked like a mule I still felt fine and I was hoping it wouldn't fire again. Called 911 and when they answered they asked what my pulse was I checked and it was 69 and I told them I felt fine. I rode into the hos...

two timer headed for 3rd

I will have my 3rd generator change in 2 weeks.... first was in 04, 2nd was in 08. The second time, the doc said he would leave the leads in place as he couldn't attach new battery to the old leads...that would have meant 6 leads in place. Fast forward to 2013 & alarm has been beeping so time for a change. this doc says there are only 3 leads in place....and haughtily questioned where on earth I got the idea there were the old leads in place? I tried to explain the doc in 08 told me he couldn't...

Advice please!

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well! So for the 4th time, my leads have fractured, leaving me needing surgery once again to replace them. The last time this happened (3 years ago) the doctors left the fractured lead in me and just put the new one in next to/with it because apparently taking out the fractured one was too risky. Since I have had to have so many surgeries in a short amount of time (from the continuously fracturing leads) I have a lot of scar tissue built up where my leads are, m...
