My little story . I died of SCD was dead for 6 minutes while Nurses at a Nursing home preformed cpr on me until the emts got there . Was shocked 2 times . I died again in ICU that night and had to be shocked. They kept a crash cart at the end of my bed until they could do surgery a few days later. 5 days in ICU and 4 more days in a regular room . I was grateful to be in the right place at the right time. A miracle I have very minimal brain damage. My medical condition is Long QT Syndrome possib...
Odd feeling that may be from my ICD
Hi all,
I'm an extremely active 52 year old male with acute systolic heart failure (EF = >18%) so I ended up with an ICD implanted on my left shoulder 6 days ago.
Since night one I've experienced what feels like an intense electrically induced hiccup. The odd thing is, that it only happens when I am either laying on my left side or slouching to my left side. If it matters, per my Fitbit HR, my heart rate is always right around 60 bpm which is where the device tries to pace...
Shock or not?
This afternoon I leaned over to pick something up off of the floor and had a pain go right through my chest? I sat back down involuntarily and just sat there for a few seconds until it went away. I don't quite know what to expect from my crt-d. If it was a shock will it show up on my Merlin?
Heart Virus
Hi everyone,
I'm 62 years young and last winter I had a bad chest cold/virus that must have attacked my heart. In two months my heart was enlarged, EF was down to 24% and my Mitral valve was compromised. I couldn't have open heart to repair the valve due to the low EF. Mayo Clinic place a Mitra-Clip in the heart to somewhat repair the valve and reduce the regurgitation, that worked. With that they were hoping that my heart would bounce back close to normal. A year later my EF is at 34...
Wrong websites?
Maybe I am on the wrong website. I have a CRT-D. Am I supposed to be here or not?
1st night back.
Ok first night back since the implant 3 weeks ago. wound is pretty much healed. although still a little tender. yesterday the device started rotating and that does get uncomfortable, not really painful.
have walked around about 1/3 of the tools with no interaction. 480/ 3 phase. 240 2 phase. haven't gone around the implanters yet. and the one tool with a big earth magnet with pacemaker warnings on it.

Newbie here...
Hi,
It's just been over a week after my surgery. The healing is not going as fast as I expected. I am a 23 year old woman that just got diagnosed with brugada syndrome. I am feeling a little down because I can't do things that my husband and our friends are doing while I recover. I also am bummed I can't do some of my favorite things anymore - like go on rollercoasters! I went to church today for the first time in awhile (because I was so sick) and just being in the sanctuary during song s...

Need help choosing
Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum (forums in general) and I need help. My Doctor has suggested the three companies below:
- St. Jude
- Medtronic
- Boston Scientific
I have been researching best I can, but I am unsure. From what I gather it seems that there is not a wrong choice. I have another appointment on Nov. 19th with a new Doctor and I am going to ask for models of each to research more in-depth. Would you suggest any websites, maybe the hospi...
Interesting phone call
been wearing the Zoll Lifevest for the past 2 months. and during the drive will feel it vibrate, had a couple of announcements after that the sensors were not in contact, well on a drive home I would get anywhere from 10 to 30 of those vibrations, and would make adjustment to the vest.
Tuesday Evening it told it to send an update. went to work Wed night. Had not heard from EP in two weeks after confirming ef was 35%-40%,
Thursday Morning get call from EP office with Urg...
Reducing RV pacing?
My first post so greetings! I'm 64 with ICD implant in 2009 for sustained VT. A few shocks and "terminated episodes" post implant but thankfully the VT has subsided with amiodarone treatment. Earlier this year generator was replaced with Boston Scientific Enogen EL initially set to DDD mode.
Prior to the gen changeout I was having issues with occasional light-headedness. Turned out it was pacemaker syndrome. During these v-paced instances my systolic BP dropped from 110 avg. to...

REPLACEMENT ICD
Hi,Hubby has finally had operation to take out two broken leads and his ICD and a new ICD fitted in a 7 hour op.Didnt expect it to take that long after it has only been in for 2 years. He is recovering well apart from his INR which needs to get back on track as he has not been taking it before the op.Docs have increased bisoporol as he has been having ectopics since surgery-was on 10mg now on 12.5mg-lets hope they stop and life can go back to normal again and this ICD has a longer lifespan.

Thank you for allowing me to join the group. I'm scared about my cardiologist recommendation to implant an ICD. I have also met my EP.
My story...
54 year old Caucasian male, left handed
1st MI on 7/4/15 due to 100% blockage LAD and 70% blockage LCX
EF on 7/5, 7/7, and 10/1 = 30% to 35%
I've worn a LifeVest for 100 days with 3 one-time alarms and zero shocks
I mention my handedness because during the consult the doctor and his nurse repeatedly said the...

I ended up at the hospital last night. However our local hospital
is not really equipped to deal with any major issues with ICDs.
I started having strange severe pain that felt like a knife thru
my chest that lasted for about 10 secs yesterday morning. This happened off and on all day. I knew it didnt seem right, especially the metallic taste in my mouth. I tried to get in touch with my regular Dr. however the nurse never called me back.
At about 4:30, the pain, came back agai...
ICD now or later.
Again, I have just begun learning about my condition, so advice, constructive or otherwise is welcomed. Last years physical showed me as healthy, other than needing to lose a few pounds. These past few months all the tests have come back great no cancer/diabetes/blockages etc.. I am truly blessed in some ways.
Dr says my low Ef is the reason I am to get the ICD.
Dr. Says it will not come up much more if at all maybe 1 or 2%.
I know everyone is different but From what I have been...
First ICD, journey has begun.
Hey everyone, my name is Joe.
I will be 50 this year, 2 kids and a beautiful wife.
In June of 2015, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Echo showed a estimated 15% EF. Heart cath - no blockages. No signs of diabetes.... Nothing.
It was determined mine was caused by a virus that severely weakened my heart.
I was placed in a zoll lifevest.. Yippee..
Started meds of coreg, spironolactone, lasix, potassium.
3 months later I have dropped nearly 50 lbs.(wate...
