im 5 days post implantation. I still have the original water resistant bandage. I go Tuesday for the pm check and Friday for bandage and staple removal. Man does it itch right now! I was told not to raise my arm.. no push, pull, tug, tow, reach up or behind.. is it bad that I’ve slipped up and woken up with both arms above my head on one occasion? I panicked and now sleep in the sling.. lol.. pm is on left side so I’m sleeping on my right side. Is that ok?! I’m having what f...

So I posted a few times and have gotten great responses. My wife ended up having to get a two wire pacemaker two weeks ago. Did need some voltage adjustments and the doctor took care of that yesterday. But it's been almost two weeks and she continues to feel really tired and dizzy. At one point it was hard to breathe. We did go into the ER doctors medical assistance advice. They did a full CAT scan of the chest to double-check things and all numbers and vitals and everything's looking...

Hi. I just got my first pacemaker/defibrillator on Tuesday. I was surprised how much it sticks out! Will it settle in ? Am I still swollen and that is making it stick out more?

I have a pacemaker replacement and wire upgrade surgery in 4 days time I've been told to stop taking my blood thinner (eliquis) 3 days before and no diabetic drugs the day of surgery I assume heart arrythmia drugs should still be taken. Are there any vitamins or herbals ie ginger, vitamin c,d, echinacea that should be avoided as well.

So first I want to thank who's responded to my first post? I can't tell you how I really appreciate this club. All of this is so new to me and my wife. This is really a nice place to connect. I have one other question. As I mentioned in my other post she had to be in ICU due to some complications with her sinus node and her lower part of her heart not receiving conductivity. As I as I mentioned before she's got pulses happening at times that she actually feels trenching and it'...

Hi everyone. I found this club which looks amazing. Especially as the husband of a 39 year old wife who was in ICU this last week due to some major heart complications. Her sinus node was starting to weekend and her heart rate was very slow. She had one surgery with one wire then realized after the fact that her bottom part of her heart I think ventricle was not pumping in line with the top part. I think they called it at a two-to-one block. Unfortunately she needed to go in for a second surg...

Had a pacemaker for brady cardia two weeks ago it has caused nothing but grief. The day of surgery and the day after were perfect. The next morning everything went wrong. Sorry to be so negative, but I am so ill and having problems with surgeon and cardiologist not listening to me for two weeks. Finally, I went to the ER everything but very high BP's was OK, I am 76 and did and I do not expect miracles, but what has happened is frig...

I had a stress test done yesterday. I will get the results February 2nd. I am doing better with th...

I just had a PM installed January 11th, and this was all discovered through testing from Nov-Dec 2017. I have 3rd degree block and there was also some taccacardia, and sometimes my Atrial was beating 70 BPM and the VEntical 30 BPM. But with the PM and some meds, they say should be okay. I am in my early 50s, and am still recovering from surgery, but went back to work this week, although no driving. I seem to feel my heart beating, very strongly, when I am jus...

Pacers we need to be compassionate towards each other, this is a very rough time in the first few weeks. but it does get better. thank God that it does, so in the first few weeks be encouraged it will get better. rest yourself as much as you possibly can. try in not to let nothing or no one stress you out. makes a world of difference in your heart rate, and how you heal. you will get there be paient don't lose heart.

Had the pacer placed on Dec 12th of last year, had the perforation on the 15th, had a re-wire on the 18th. They noticed a little surface infection at the time and got the wife's permission to move the pacer to the right side, but in the end decided they could just clean it up and leave it on the left. Fast forward to today, the scar closed 95% of the way very nicely, but a hole the size of a BB remains that leaks a tiny bit of clear fluid. I had an office visit with the doc this afternoon...

This has happened very quickly for me despite an accident ten months ago. It took the doctors a long time to find out what caused my accident - I fainted at the sink and fell back onto a slate floor, sustaining a cracked skull and some brain damage. I believed it to have been caused by hiccups and my jumping up to get water, sending a ‘rush’ to the head but eventually it was traced to an asymtomatic sinus node. Three weeks after the diagnosis, I’m in hospital for the i...

I feel like now that I found this web site my questions have gone one from a hundred. But will try to keep it short. But first I'm so happy I have found this site.
I just had my surgery a week ago. Was told in the hospital that the pacemaker is putting out 80% of my heart beats to keep it at around 60bpm. I just turned 49 yesterday. So have been living with a very slow rate for awhile. I have two leads going in .
1 question I feel like my heart's racing and won't slow...

Hi Fellow implanted, Happy New Year. Just a quick question. Does anyone have pain in the left shoulder arm joint?
Had my ICD implanted in April last year and..........lifting my arm sends a fairly sharp pain into my arm. Is this normal?
Many thanks. Ozzie

I'm wondering how long most of you experienced muscle soreness after pacemaker placement?
My pacemaker was inserted on November 13, 2017 and I am still very sore. Everything seems to bother the area (seat belt, bra strap, and just clothes against the area). Sometimes it is impossible to sleep because I cannot find a comfortable position because of the device.
There is only one thing I'm aware of that might be adding to my discomfort. The surgeon told me after the surg...

Hi,
I’ve had a CRT-P fitted 4 days ago. I now have pressure feeling on my chest and back of neck and heartbeat is all over the place. I have spoken to cardiology and will be going to clinic in the morning for first synchronisation.
so I am not too anxious but I would love to hear if anybody else has had unexpected post surgery symptoms?
