Just put in a couple of posts earlier today on my doubts and fears. Then looked at this forum and find that there are others sharing my predicament. From the various Qs I gather that the basic Q any of us needs to address is : "Is it at all possible for a PM to shift after implantation, and if so under what circumstances? Same Q for the leads"
Strikes me we are all groping around in the dark on this basic issue. I would suggest we all ask our docs this basic Q, and pool the answers. U...

It has been approx 4 weeks and I have been doing great. Yesterday I swung a golf club a few times just using a iron but I didn't take a full swing. This morning I have had a few tingling sensations around the site. I think this is probably ok. Any comments?

I've been wanting to scuba dive for quite a long time so this week when I went for my yearly follow up I asked my Dr. if I can get my scuba certification and how is my PM rated for this.
Much to my disappointment I received a NO from my Dr. Apparently my Medtronic has a very low rating for scuba diving and with my past complications he really doesn't want to switch my pack unless absolutely necessary. So in another 6.5 yrs when I'm due for a battery change I'm getting a better one so I can...

Does anyone know if it's ok to go kayaking? I have heard that moving the shoulders too much can damage the leads. Also, any input on weight lifting? I have read conflicting comments on this too, some people say it's ok, other say not to do it, others say it's ok but avoid shoulder press......

Hi It has been almopst five months since Ihad my ICD surgery. This is my dilema. I am currently in the military and enjoy an active lifestyle. I am stationed in Korea (leaving for the states soon to be discharged from the military). I had my surgery at a Korean hospital because we do not have a specialist over here to perform that type of surgery. i got a clean bill of health from him on january 4th. Basically he told me i can do everything that I did on Dec 13th 2012. My dilema is, when I go se...

I have Complete Heart Block which is the reason for my pacemaker. Lately I keep trying to exercise and eat healthy, as well as cut sodium way out of my diet, but every time I even exercise a little bit I feel light headed and like I'm going to white out. I am also iron deficient, but seriously this is getting old really fast. How am I ever supposed to outlive this heart problem if my body doesn't seem to want to let me? Am I over exerting myself? I mostly just walk on the treadmill as fast as I...

I'm 47 and had AVR replacement last August via Ross Procedure. Heart block post surgery resulted in Medtronic revo pm. I'm active but have been frustrated with the drop in heart rate during exercise. EP says he raised the setting to as high as it goes (he says 160 is the limit on this model). I'm dropping hr at 130. Going back tomorrow. He's talking replacement of the pm. We're taking it slow but would like input?

Had my pacemaker implanted in oct 2011. The only time I have strange problems with it, is when I bike. I am a very casual rider, in fact a good runner could pass me by. My problem last summer was that the heart rate goes up so fast then I hit limit, go into 2 n 1 block, then it falls within 5 sec to low end. Before my heart surgery and pm I was riding casually 7 miles a night with no problem. They now think they have the rapid descent worked out but are waiting for weather to allow me to get bac...

Okay, I had my PM inserted the day before Thanksgiving, last year (2012). Started lifting free weights again about 2 months ago, then noticed that the PM has moved position - to the point of it being more obvious now. I stopped lifting weights, hoping that the PM would somehow go back to the original position. I do not know if I have damaged it or not. I live in Mexico where my particular pacemaker (Boston Scientific) cannot be checked from a distance. My doctor in the States who did the procedu...

Hey, it's been about 6 months since i got my ICD and I'm planning on going on a 2 day camping/hiking trip in the woods with a small group of people and will also include I think another weekend of practice hiking (this if for the Duke of Edinburgh award exhibition)...
I'm 16 and have had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (slightly obstructive i think) nearly all my life and got an ICD due to one short episode of syncope and a few other minor risks for SCD.
Anyway, I did a practi...

When I had my implant on March 20th ,I ask the Doctor about playing golf,He suggested I wait until around middle of june, That would be about 3 months,or 10 to 12 weeks, and I can sure wait until then ,I do not want to go through this again by being stupid and doing something I should not do
better to be safe than sorry
PS I am 77 coming up on 78 in June 10,so I guess that would be a good Birthday gift

Really getting into my hand weights for the season. I only use 3,4,5 and 6. But after how many sets do you change up the weight of the weight ??? I am doing 3 sets in different types of exercises.
Also, another question. I found dvd trainer on youtube that has free downloads of her exercises. She uses weights in different ways, like boxing w/weights (punching in front of you). Weights pressing overhead slightly in front. At what point does one know it should not be the exe...

Had a PM installed Nov. 2012 after a year and a half of investigation.
I wasn't an easy sell.
I have lifted weights all my life, low weight and high reps.
My problem is what is acceptable now and what exercises should I avoid?
I would love some advice?
Thanks!!

I am a runner, 59, and have been running since high school. I've had A fib off and on since age 40 with many cardioversions, 2 ablations, and am scheduled to have a 3rd, this time a Hybrid ablation. My next option is a pacemaker. Would this affect my ability to run. Are there any other adverse affects with a pacer? Any thoughts, especially from runners with pacers, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom

I was wondering if anyone out there with a cardiac pacemaker knows whether I am able to take part in boxing? I've tried to read up on this but all the information that I have seen never really gives me a direct answer. I know contact sports aren't a good idea but it is something I've always wanted to do. Thanks for any help i can get :)

I am a 27-year-old marathon runner. I have run four marathons and, incidentally, plan to run the Boston Marathon in two weeks.
After experiencing some heart flutters, I had a series of tests done that revealed that I have bradycardia as a result of a problem with my heart's "electrical system." I had an EKG and echo. I also wore a heart monitor for 24 hours, which revealed that, while sleeping, my heart beat went down to 21 BPM. It further revealed that there were up to 4.4 seco...
